I overlap the scar that was created in my childhood (in 1985) with the borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina by intervening with a pencil on my hand. The scar changes and shrinks over time.

Ožiljak koji je nastao u djetinjstvu (1985. godine) preklapam sa granicama Bosne i Hercegovine intervenišući olovkom na ruci. Ožiljak se vremenom mijenja i smanjuje.

“The Border“ is conceptual pattern that I used in one of my previous works which were realized in aMAZElab`s project – ARCIPELAGO BALKANI/ OPEN (the) CITY 2010.

*The body is mapped or rather determined (bordered) with space, body is conditioned with belonging to a certain spatial area and it`s regulations (in this case MS DOCKVILLE festival area). 

Festival entrance is place where I’m marking people`s hands with a stamp (miniature drawing of festival border).

This leads to having many different hands with same markings of the same place, which connects them all in that same moment.

“The Border“ is multiplied body drawing. 

It deals with the body (skin) as a tabula rasa for spatial inscriptions, and is based on questions like: Is body mapped by certain bordered space or how is space determined with body? Is surface of the skin beginning of the border? Do bodies always exist within borders? How do different bodies comprehend same border? What makes some borders acceptable and some not? Does acceptance of one particular border take place thro body multiplied inside that particular border? 

Some of peoples’ reactions during performance:

Many people would accept to be marked/bordered if they can gain something from it. Some people think that art is strange or dangerous and do not want to participate. Some think that all this is stupid.  Some accept markings because they do not care. Some just want to participate and some are just polite. Few people don’t like the look of their hands and do not want to be photographed. Some people would like to be on TV and for that reason they would give both hands to be marked. Some people really want to understand why, and that is condition for their acceptance of the body bordering.

“Granica“ je konceptualni obrazac koji sam koristio u jednom od svojih prethodnih radova koji su realizovani u projektu aMAZElab-a – ARCIPELAGO BALKANI/ OPEN (the) CITY.

*Tijelo je mapirano ili bolje rečeno određeno (ograničeno) sa prostorom, tijelo je uslovljeno pripadanjem određenom prostornom području i njegovim propisima (u ovom slučaju MS DOCKVILLE festival). Ulaz na festival je mjesto gdje markom (minijaturni crtež granice festivala) obilježavam ruke ljudima. To dovodi do toga da imamo mnogo različitih ruku sa istim oznakama na istom mjestu, što ih sve povezuje u istom trenutku. “Granica“ je umnoženi crtež tijela. Obrađuje tijelo (kožu) kao tabula rasa za prostorne natpise, a zasniva se na pitanjima kao što su:

Da li je tijelo mapirano određenim omeđenim prostorom ili kako se prostor određuje tijelom? Da li je površina kože početak granice? Da li tijela uvijek postoje unutar granica? – Kako različita tijela shvataju istu granicu? -Šta čini neke granice prihvatljivim, a neke ne? – Da li se prihvatanje jedne određene granice dešava kroz tijelo umnoženo unutar te određene granice?

Neke od reakcija ljudi tokom performansa:

Mnogi ljudi bi prihvatili da budu označeni/ograničeni ako mogu nešto dobiti od toga. Neki ljudi misle da je umjetnost čudna ili opasna i ne žele da učestvuju. Neki misle da je sve ovo glupo. Neki prihvataju oznake jer ih nije briga. Neki samo žele da učestvuju, a neki su samo ljubazni. Malo ljudi ne voli izgled svojih ruku i ne želi da se fotografiše. Neki ljudi bi željeli biti na TV-u i iz tog razloga bi dali obje ruke da budu označeni. Neki ljudi zaista žele da shvate zašto, a to je uslov za njihovo prihvatanje granice tela.
